I’m teaching in the same district that inspired me as a kid. Growing up here, my teachers became my mentors and role models, and now, I get to do that for the next generation of VUSD students. This district has been my family since I was young, and it still is.

Vacaville Unified welcomed me with open arms. I may be new to the district, but I already feel like part of the family. Everyone from my colleagues to the students has embraced me, and I’m thrilled to be growing my career here.

The VUSD is more than a job... it's home for me!

For me, the VUSD isn't just my job – it's where my family grows. My son graduated from here, and my daughter currently attends school here and is very involved! I know they're in good hands every day. I love being part of the VUSD family because I know it's a community that cares.

I have been in education for over 20 years and I can attest that VUSD is by far the best place for me! I am able to pour into the hearts and minds of my students every day while enjoying outstanding support from my colleagues, administration and district office experts. I love teaching at Markham Elementary! I am so grateful to be at a place that wants the best for not only the students, but for all employees as well.

Caring for the kids is at the heart of my work. I get to be a part of a school that wraps services around every aspect of their lives. If I can be part of something with that much purpose, then that is where I want to stay.

My students have a voice in my classroom. Also, they can explore, examine, question, create, imagine, discover, celebrate, grow, and learn in a positive classroom environment.

I can model for young people in my Vacaville community for young people who want to get started in music what an active life in music looks like.

I love working with our students and our Hispanic community. I encourage them to go back to school. If I could do it at 40, they can do it too.
